MAST Raft Race Review |
7 July 2010 |
For the second bi-annual Mast Raft Race keen athletes from micro labs around Scotland turned out to compete for the coveted trophy. The teams included rafters from Stirling, Fife, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire although one raft was bolstered by the supreme strength of Mast’s UK sales manager (not that they won).
The race began with the teams building their own rafts before being released ten seconds apart in the order they finished construction. A significant distance was covered as they rounded a marker in the loch and then travelled upstream to collect a pirate flag before heading back to plant their flag on the beach.
Fife’s team, runners-up at the last event, snatched victory in a tight contest and a nail-biting finish. Victorious, they travelled home with the trophy commemorating their triumph.
After the race the teams enjoyed a sumptuous lunch served in their own luxury marquee accompanied by a summer soundtrack.
Teams who took part this year enjoyed another fabulous sunny day and a lot of laughs. Thank you to one and all.
