MAST Group is pleased to announce the launch of the new Seeplex HSV multiplex PCR test from Seegene.
Working direct from patient samples, the test is able to detect and differentiate HSV 1 & HSV 2 infections in just 5 hours.
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) is the most common ulcerative sexually transmitted disease in the UK, effecting approximately 20,000 people. Infections may be asymptomatic and therefore difficult to detect clinically. Type 2 infection is commonly associated with genital infections. Although Type 1 generally causes oral herpes, there is an increase of incidence of genital herpes caused by Type 1.
The HSV kit is the latest in the Seeplex range that already offers multiplex assays for, amongst others, respiratory viruses, meningitis, diarrhoea, pneumobacter and STI detection. The growing portfolio of products allows MAST to offer laboratories a single platform for multiple molecular parameters.
